Whole30, Day 11: Grocery Shopping Made Simple

Coffee with coconut milk

2 eggs fried sunny-side-up in ghee, with salt and pepper

Salad with spring mix, vinaigrette, and canned salmon

2 small roasted Yukon Gold potatoes with cilantro sauce (made a new batch, this time with a large amount of Italian parsley in it as well)–rubbed with olive oil and baked at 350 degrees in the toaster oven for an hour

1 Italian sausage, pan-fried

A large helping of sauerkraut

I also hard-boiled some eggs for snacks, but haven’t eaten any yet.

We stopped at the store today to get some more groceries. I was amazed at how much of the store was basically useless to me–forget perimeter shopping! Not even the entire perimeter was permissible, since we had to skirt wide swathes of cheese, milk, and processed cold cuts. It simplified grocery shopping immensely. We basically bought huge amounts of meat and vegetables and nothing else.

Various ideas for things we picked up at the store today: meatballs (with tomato sauce and zucchini spirals?), tomatillo salsa to eat with steak or eggs, chicken saag, cucumber water, burgers, pasta all’arrabbiata with carrot noodles, fried plantain slices, cauliflower tabbouleh. I got a perfect-looking apricot that I’m looking forward to eating out of hand.
